Perfect Perugia

Perugia

Another bright and early morning, but today we were traveling to Perugia. We met at the train station to take out two hour bus ride to Perugia. When we arrived in Perugia we spent about an hour walking around before heading to lunch. We went to see look outs of the country side, and the main piazzas of Perugia. There was a beautiful fountain in the main Piazza. The piazza was surrounded by many shops and restaurants.

After doing our quick walking tour provided by our professor, we headed to lunch. Our lunch was very good. We had a four course meal. The first course was an appetizer sort of like stuffing but cold. It is made when you have a lot of stale bread left over. You moisten it, crumble it, and add vegetables. Then we got meats and cheeses. There were all different types of cheeses. I didn’t like the goat cheese very much. The bread was good too. The bread was warm and soft just how I like it! The third course, my favorite, was Alfredo pasta with sausage. The final course was a meat course. It was very good. It was thin cuts of beef. Before leaving we had a small coffee, and then we were off to the chocolate factory.

The chocolate factory, now owned by Nestle was a fun trip. We got lots of chocolate and got to tour the factory. We saw the replica of the largest piece of chocolate by the Guinness World Record book and ate too much chocolate. I came home with chocolate too. A whole pile of chocolate was brought home, which later most of my roommates ate, candy bars and much more. The chocolate factory makes all the baci candy in the world. This means kiss. It comes in all three flavors and has nuts in it. It is very good. We got to taste many many many types of chocolate at the factory.

After the factory we headed to Solomeo and Brunello Cucinelli. Solomeo was a little town. It is a town where Brunello has mostly his workers. It is a fashion town. The fashion is very expensive. However, his company is very famous. The town overlooks a beautiful countryside. Our day ended by heading back to Florence.
