Perfect Prague

This weekend we traveled to Prague! There were three of us that went. It was my roommate Emily, Eva, and myself. We had a lovely time. Our adventure started out with a twelve-hour bus ride to Prague. This time the bus ride was not as comfortable as the last. I had to sit with someone too. I just could not get comfortable. I did get some sleep, but we were up at 4am to make a stop. 4am is just way to early for me to be awake. This time we watched a few movies; I mostly fell asleep for them though.

Anyways, we arrived in Prague at about 8:30 AM. Our hotel rooms were ready, which meant I got to shower before the walking tour, yes! Our walking tour started at 10am. We would not return to the hotel until about 4PM that day. The owner of Euro Adventures, Shaun, conducted the walking tour. He took us all around the city. First we started off in the large square, which I can’t remember the name of. We then headed down through old town and new town. We had the best dough things here. It was like soft doughy dough fired in a coil with sugar. It was so good. We saw the clock tower; it was beautiful. We saw the beautiful gothic style church. Then we continued to the Charles Bridge. Walked across the bridge to a small little village area with food. After we grabbed a warm bite to eat, we headed to the John Lennon Wall. After we spent time here admiring the wall, the singer at the wall, and taking many pictures we headed off to the castle. At the castle we saw the guards, a protester who was so inspiring. This protester has been protesting the government for 2020 days. The government took his home awhile back. I would have loved to talk to him more, but his English was very broken. Anyways, we then headed through the castle and to the church. It was beautiful inside the church. From there we skipped the Jewish Cemetery, mainly because we were hungry, and headed to lunch.

The three of us ate lunch at a typical Czech place. We ordered potato soup in bread bowls. It was more like vegetable soup if you ask me. Yummy nonetheless. We don’t have soup in Italy; therefore when we get the chance to eat it we do! We also ordered bread dumplings, which ended up just being slices of bread. Anyways then we headed back for nap before an evening of fun.

Our evening started out by grabbing a quick dinner. I had a Kabob (it is more like a gyro), and Emily a calzone. After dinner, we met the entire group at the hotel to head out for a pub-crawl. The first bar consisted of unlimited beer or sangria for the first two hours. I chose the beer. Next we went to a bar that welcomed us Americans by playing the Friends Theme Song, Ghost Busters, and Greece Lighting. This place had the right type of music. After we went to another bar which had just a huge long bar; it was so big it was hard to see the other end of the bar. After, we were supposed to go to this place called Roxy however our group was too big. So than we just headed home for the night.

On Valentines Day we all got up and had breakfast. We reminisced about the night before while drinking our coffee. The breakfast at the hotel was great. There was fruit, eggs, toast, cereal, potato wedges, and cheese and crackers. After breakfast, I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure while my roommates napped. We then headed out for lunch and to get a fish pedicure. The fish pedicure was an experience. My feet are already very ticklish, and this just intensified it. The fish felt like little vibrations that ticked your feet. We were all laughing so hard, the people there were probably like those Americans. Anyways it was about 30 minutes long. While sitting at the window we got to people watch, and people got to watch us. We had multiple people walk buy and just stare at our feet. It was such a fun time.

After the fist pedicure we headed out to do some shopping. I found some beautiful watercolor artwork. I can’t wait to hang it up. We then headed back to the hotel for a short nap. For dinner we went to a local place. Czech food is very heavy, which didn’t agree with my stomach, so I decided to go for something light. I had salmon it was very good. After dinner we headed to meet everyone to go to the five-story club. The five-story club was a different bar on each of the five stories. We get to the door, and guess what…. The security guards are IDing. At this point I’m like uhhhhh…. Well, let me just say, who carries their passport with them at all times and especially not on a night out? Not me. I didn’t have my driver’s license either since it is pointless in Europe. So there was no five-story club for me. There were others who didn’t have their ID’s, so we just went to a couple other places and headed home.

On Sunday, we had a lovely breakfast and then started our journey back to Italy. We stopped at a rest stop in Germany for lunch it was good. The rest stop had fresh squeezed orange juice; it was delicious. We then continued our journey through the mountains of Austria. The mountains were beautiful. They were snow covered and it was a beautiful sunny day. I took so many pictures of them. We even got to watch the sunset. It really made me want to go skiing. On this bus ride I slept some of the way, and watched a couple movies. We watched Ferris Buhler’s Day Off, American Hustle, and Meet the Parents.

It was a long weekend, but it was great to travel to another city in Europe. Can’t wait for the next one. By the time I’m home I am just going to want to sleep for the entire week, but next to the pool.
