Today was the first day of orientation. It started bring and early at 8:45AM. We all got up and even had time to get some coffee and a pastry. There is this cute little shop literaly right around the corner from us! Very easy to get to, and we found out today that our second school building is five steps across the street! BONUS! Today's lunch stop was not my cup of tea... It was good, don't get me wrong, but it was very expensive for the amount of food you got. Plus it was served in a cafeteria setting. I prefer a nice sandwich or a calzone yummmmm. We learned lots of things at orientation today. We were spoken to by a police officer, meet the falculty and staff, filled out some paper work and all that fun jazz! After we had a little reception with drinks and mini sandwiches.

Now here comes the real story... After dinner my roomate Kayla and I planned on getting dinner. Well this was not the case. Instead we decided on the way to dinner we would stop and pick up some stuff we needed for the house. This took much longer than expected. A trip that was supposed to be no longer than an hour turned into a two and a half hour trip with no dinner. Let's just say we did many many circles around Florence. We walked and walked and walked. We thought we knew where we were headed but everytime we thought we were right we got further away. Finally, we somehow made it back to the duomo. I have literally not a clue how we did! All of our bags broke because we had water bottles in them and detergant. We had to buy a bucket to save them, but walking that far made it very tiring. We missed getting Gelato with the roomies, but there is till plenty of time for that. It is very hard in Florence because I can only call without wifi to Italian numbers and to communicate where I am and to whom is quite the challenge. We couldn't notify them. But eventually we found our way. Here later I found out the whole time we were basically 5 minutes from our apartment but took the long way around! It will be a great story to remember as well as trying to ask Italians who don't speak english how to get home.

After returning from the trip, I went an toured a little more. Figured out the 99 cents store, market, and an amazing sandwich shop is only about two blocks from us. That is great to know! We just have a fine and dandy location! I can't complain!

Ciao!
