Well, I finally made it to Florence, Italy my home for the next 128 days! Once we arrrived at the airport we grab our bags and headed to the taxis! Yes I could carry all of my weight but it was about my total body weight! We then recieved our address, and were off in a taxi cab. Well let me tell you if you think that Ohio, New York, or who ever are the worst drivers.. I will tell you right now you are wrong! I haven't be scared out of my life! I was trying to take pictures out the window because I was holding on for dear life! The taxi driver was speedy, almost hit a pedestrian, and fit in the tightest spaces possible.. I don't know how. Well lucky for you all, we made it safe to the apartment. There was a door man here to greet us, and he carried my bags up the stairs to the second floor (BONUS!) even though Italian's say we live on the first floor, we went upstairs therefore it's the second. I walked into our apartment and it is beautiful! We have a three bedroom with two bathrooms! The showers are a bit small but I can live! Our ceilings have beautiful paintings on them, and it is just the cutest place. After deciding my roomate would be Liz, we picked our bedrooms. Liz and I took the bedroom connected to one of the bathrooms. It has high vaulted ceilings two beds, and two closests! Yes all of my clothes fit! There is plenty of storage! After unpacking, we met with a lady who works with the housing department. She showed us how to unlock the door, work the stove, the washer, which did I mention is so tiny, and what happens if someone knocks the power out. You know thats bound to happen with all of our electronics, beauty tools, and whatever else we may be using. OHHHHHH I forgot to mention the heat. In Italy there is a maximum temperature for heat and number of hours it can be on.. Well it is 70F and only for 10 hours... This means we go the whole night without any heat. The heat is on from 6AM-9PM 12-PM-3PM, and 7PM-11PM. It is a bit chilly for sure! We are going to look for more blankets tomorrow along with another hair dryer since it is a bit hard for 6 girls to share one! The rest of the night we went to dinner with our 18 students from our school. My belly is quite full! I had a wonderful pizza, beer, and dessert! We admired the duomo, got lost and discovered the city, found the mac machine, and finding our school! This city is such an amazing city. It doesn't feel real to me that I am here. I wish I could bring all my friends and family to be able to share in this adventure. Until next time, I plan to finish my wine and hit the hay.
Ciao
